If you own a business, you should buy your own domains

I see it time and again. A business owner starts a business, gets someone else to build their site, parts ways with the vendor, and loses everything: the website and the domain name. Don’t take the risk. Buy your own domain name for your business, even if you plan to let someone else build your website.

Reasons to buy a domain

There are many reasons to purchase domains when you own a business. At minimum, you should purchase the domain for your actual business name so that you can use it to advertise your business online through a website or landing page. You should buy the domain as soon as, or even before you register the business. That way, you can ensure that it is indeed available before you commit to your advertising strategy.

Reasons to Buy Extra Domains

Other domain names you may want to buy can include domain names for key products and services. For example, if your company name is Acme, and you are the creator of a product or service called muffins, then you may want to buy muffins.com in addition to acme.com. As your marketing for key products or services grows, you may find it beneficial to advertise by the product or service name itself.
